Basic Operation

User Interface

  • Partial press: Momentary on (forward clicky)
  • Fast press: Advance through modes (Low → Medium → High)
  • Full press: Latch switch to leave light on
  • Full press again: Turn off

Battery Low

The light will flash three times and step down when the voltage becomes too low.

Overheating

The light will flash four times and step down when the temperature becomes too high.

Driver Details

The DC2 uses our Okluma 17mm Buck v1.1 featuring:

  • Constant current regulation via precision DAC control
  • Multi-level thermal protection (50°C warning, 90°C shutdown)
  • Multi-level voltage protection (3.3V warning, 2.7V cutoff)
  • Reverse polarity protection
  • Hybrid voltage monitoring (VDD/VDV switching)
  • Temperature-based step down

Thermal Management

High mode starts at 550 lumens, but after about 2 minutes of continuous use it steps down to 350 lumens when the light reaches 60°C to prevent overheating. The DC2 uses a temperature sensor on the TINY1616 that provides accurate thermal monitoring, responding to actual conditions rather than just running a timer. This design delivers full brightness initially, then automatically settles into a sustainable output level for continuous operation.

Release Date: June 2025

Features

  • Thermal step-down
  • Low voltage warning
  • Multi-level protection alerts

Updates

Updates will be available in the future.

Maintenance

Regular Care

  • Clean threads monthly with isopropyl alcohol and cotton swab
  • Lubricate o-rings sparingly with lightweight oil every 6 months
  • Remove battery if storing for extended periods (>30 days)
  • Wipe down exterior with microfiber cloth to remove fingerprints

Storage

  • Store with tailcap slightly loosened to prevent accidental activation
  • Keep in dry environment to prevent corrosion
  • Avoid extreme temperatures (-10°C to 60°C storage range)
  • Check battery voltage monthly if stored with battery installed

Troubleshooting

Light Won't Turn On

  1. Check battery polarity (+ towards head)
  2. Ensure battery is charged (>3.0V)
  3. Clean battery contacts with isopropyl alcohol
  4. Try a different battery

Flickering or Intermittent Operation

  1. Clean all threads with isopropyl alcohol
  2. Check for debris in battery tube
  3. Ensure tailcap is fully tightened
  4. Verify battery voltage

Reduced Output

  1. Check for thermal step-down (normal behavior)
  2. Clean lens with microfiber cloth
  3. Verify battery charge level
  4. Allow light to cool if overheated
